  1. Same thing only different:

    The police officers in Tulsa, OK were required to take furlough days last year due to the shortage of tax receipts. There was a huge outcry from them about loss of puplic safety (even though there would be none due to a simple schedule change for officers effected) and how could the city do this to the people of Tulsa . I wondered why not a single one volunteered to work without pay for the three days if they were that concerned.

    Then this week the police union was offered the option to receive pay cuts instead of laying off over 150 officers. The union voted 91% to let their fellow officers loose their jobs. I was wondering where their concern for puplic safety had gone this year – not to mention concern for the families of their fellow officers.

    I guess the concept of selflessly serving the people is in trouble if these two stories become the norm.
